Delete Your Account

Leaving should be as easy as arriving.

You can delete your Mr. Chud account yourself, in about ten seconds, without asking anyone. This page shows you where the button is, what pressing it actually erases, and what honestly does not go with it.

Summary

  1. 01Two routes out: in the app, or by email
  2. 02Everything filed under your account goes
  3. 03Rows go at once, files within 15 minutes
  4. 04Cancel your subscription first
01 · Delete it in the app

This is the fastest route and the one we would rather you used, because it runs against your own signed-in session and needs nothing from us. The path is the same on iPhone and on Android.

  1. Open Mr. Chud and sign in if it asks.
  2. On the today tab, tap the gear icon in the top right corner.
  3. Scroll down the settings list to the ACCOUNT group.
  4. Tap delete account, the red row under log out.
  5. Read the warning, then confirm with delete forever.

The app signs you out and drops you back at the start screen. That is the whole flow. There is no waiting period, no cooling-off window, no confirmation email to click, and no way to get the account back afterwards.

Deletion is authenticated from your own session token, and the account it deletes is read from that token rather than from anything the app sends. Nobody can delete somebody else’s account by asking, including us, and including you.

02 · Already deleted the app? Email us

If Mr. Chud is no longer on your phone, or you cannot get back into your account, you do not need to reinstall anything. Send us one email from a browser or your mail app and we will run exactly the same deletion for you.

  1. Email benyap1220@gmail.com from the address on your account.
  2. Use the subject line Delete my Mr. Chud account.
  3. If you signed in with Apple or Google, say which one, so we can find you.

If you used Sign in with Apple and chose to hide your email, write to us from the private relay address Apple gave you, or tell us the display name your friends see, so we can match it to the right account. We check that a request really comes from the account owner before we run it: we are erasing something that cannot be restored, so a request we cannot verify is one we will not act on.

We complete email deletion requests within 30 days, and in practice far sooner than that, and we reply to tell you when it is done.

You can also ask for a copy first

If you would rather have your logs before they go, say so in the same email and we will send you an export of everything stored under your account, then delete it once you have it.

03 · What deletion actually removes

Both routes run the same server-side deletion, and it is not a flag on a row that hides you from the app. Nothing is soft-deleted, archived, anonymised in place or kept warm in case you come back. Here is what goes, and what does the erasing.

Your sign-in immediate

Your account itself, plus every linked identity behind it: the email address, the Apple link, the Google link, every active session on every device you ever signed in on, and any unused one-time sign-in code. After this there is nothing left to sign in to.

Your rows immediate

Your profile: your display name, the name you gave your Chud, the art style you picked for him, your health score, streak, level, time zone and reminder time. Every daily log you ever wrote or spoke, with its text, feeling, tags, score and reflection. Your behavior challenges. Your friendships, in both directions. Your invite link, your blocks, the friends you removed, and your friend-request history. The records of every photo and voice note you attached. The counters that track your scoring and transcription requests against the rate limit. Your feedback-board identity.

Your files next sweep

Every file stored under your account id, in every storage bucket we have. Today that is the photos you attached to a day, any spoken daily logs still inside their 30 days, and the promise you read out loud at setup. The rule that queues them names no bucket at all, it reads the storage index directly, so a bucket added after this page was written is covered on the day its first file lands rather than the day someone remembers to add it here.

Your Canny identity best effort

The community board runs on Canny, and the account it holds for you carries your display name and email address. Deleting your Mr. Chud account deletes that Canny user too, along with your votes. If Canny is unreachable in that moment the rest of the deletion still completes rather than stalling half-done, and we finish the Canny half by hand.

Anthropic and OpenAI are the two services that briefly see the content of a log, to score it and to transcribe it. We hold no account of yours with either of them, so there is nothing on their side for us to delete. Whatever their own APIs retain briefly for abuse monitoring is governed by their policies, not by ours.

04 · How long it takes
  • Your rows and your sign-in: immediately. They go inside the single request the button fires. By the time the app has returned you to the start screen, they are already gone.
  • Your files: within about 15 minutes. A database cannot reach into file storage, so deleting your profile queues every one of your files for erasure instead, and a scheduled job drains that queue every 15 minutes, up to 200 files a pass. Even an account with years of daily photos is fully swept inside a couple of hours.
  • By email: within 30 days, which is the outside limit rather than the expectation. Once we start it, the timings above are the ones that apply.
If something fails halfway

The deletion runs in a fixed order and stops on the first failure, which means the request fails as a whole and your sign-in is left in place. Nothing is left orphaned quietly and nothing is left half-hidden. Whatever had already gone stays gone, and running the deletion again finishes the job. If it fails twice, email us and we will finish it on our side.

05 · What does not go, and why

Four honest exceptions. None of them contains a word you wrote in a log, and we would rather name them here than let you find them later.

  • Posts on the public community board. Feature requests and comments you made stay up after you leave, because other people voted on them and replied to them. Your name comes off: they show as written by “a chud.” If you want a specific post taken down entirely, email us and we will remove it.
  • Your subscription record. It lives with Apple or with Google, and with RevenueCat, who keep it as a billing record. It is not ours to erase on request, it never contained a log or a score, and after deletion it points at an account that no longer exists.
  • Your analytics events. They sit in PostHog under your old account id, with nothing you wrote in them, because the app is written so that entry text structurally cannot leave in an event. Email us and we will purge that person record too.
  • Reports you filed about somebody else. A photo report you filed is deleted outright. A voice-note report or a user report stays on file with your identity unlinked from it, so a moderation decision that protected someone else does not unravel when you leave. What is kept is the decision, not you.

Everything else is covered by section 03. If you think something about you exists that is not on either list, email us and ask; we will look and tell you either way.

06 · Deleting some data, keeping the account

You do not have to delete the whole account to get rid of something. These work on their own.

  • A photo you attached to a day. Open that day from the days tab, press and hold the photo, then tap remove. It comes off the day for everyone at once, and the file itself is queued for the same 15-minute sweeper.
  • Photos and voice notes expire by themselves. A photo is deleted once it is 90 days old and a spoken daily log once it is 30 days old, whether or not you ask. Your friends’ access to either runs out sooner, at 14 days.
  • Your circle’s reach into your history. Remove someone from your circle and their access to your days ends at once: the calendar of your scores they could page back through, the photos on your days, and the recordings on them, all go with the friendship. Blocking someone does the same thing, in both directions.
  • A single community board post. Email us and we will remove it.
  • Your analytics person record in PostHog. Email us and we will purge it.

One thing genuinely cannot be undone: a day you have already logged. Mr. Chud is built on one honest entry a day that you cannot go back and edit, so the only way to remove the text of a past log is to delete the account it belongs to. A day you logged is also a day the friends in your circle can look up: they can page back through a calendar of the dates you logged and the score each one earned, for as long as the account exists. Ending the friendship ends that, and deleting the account ends it for everyone at once.

07 · Cancel your subscription first
Do this before you delete, not after

Deleting your Mr. Chud account does not stop an active Prime subscription. Billing is handled by the App Store or the Play Store, never by us, so once the account is gone we have nothing left to cancel on your behalf.

On iPhone or iPad. Open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, tap Mr. Chud, then Cancel Subscription.

On Android. Open the Google Play app, tap your profile icon, tap Payments and subscriptions, tap Subscriptions, tap Mr. Chud, then Cancel subscription.

Both are also one tap from inside the app while you still have it: Settings, then the manage subscription row, which opens the App Store or the Play Store subscription page for you. Refunds are handled entirely by the App Store’s or the Play Store’s own refund policy, and we do not process them.

Need a hand?

If any of this does not work, or you want to check what we still hold, write to us and say so plainly. Mr. Chud is currently a one-person operation, run by Ben Yap, based in Malaysia. For the full picture of what is collected in the first place, read the privacy policy.
